FASHION AND ITS MEANING

"Does a woman wearing an ankle bracelet mean something other than just wearing jewelry?

Also known as an ankle chain or simply an anklet, an ankle bracelet is in simple terms a form of jewelry that women use to adorn their ankles. Tracing ankle bracelets history will tell you that this type of jewelry has been worn by women all over the world for several centuries now. Ankle bracelets were most commonly worn by women in Egypt, India, and the Arab countries, especially women of the Bedouin clan. While anklets worn in these countries were generally made of silver and gold, in western countries where the trend caught on much later, anklets were more commonly made of leather. There are specific meanings attached to this fashion jewelry in many countries depending on their traditions and beliefs. In this article, we take a look at some of these meanings and beliefs.

How To Make A Bow Tie

In our brand new series Fix Up Look Sharp custom clothing expert Olly Murray shows you how to make a cool velvet bow tie. You can wear this with a collared shirt, or even with a dress.

You Will Need

  • 1 piece of velvet, 6 inches by 3.5 inches
  • 1 piece of velvet, 0.75 inches by 2.5 inches
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 ruler
  • 1 pin back
  • 1 pen
  • 1 tube of all purpose glue

Step 1: Find The Middle Of The Cloth

Place the larger piece of velvet on a table faces down, then finds the middle of the piece of cloth using your ruler and mark it with the pen.

Step 2: Fold the Cloth

Fold the piece of material in and out; almost as if you're making a fan. Once it's folded up, place your finger in the middle, put a dot of glue between each fold of fabric and hold it for 30 seconds.

Step 3: Make the Knot

Wrap the smaller piece of cloth around the middle of the bow tie, add a little bit of glue to one end and stick down.

Step 4: Stick on the Pin

Stick the pin back to the back of your bow tie and hold it for 30 seconds.

Step 5: Try It On

Pin the bow tie onto a shirt - and you're yet!
